Your Internet Business and Overlooked Additional Income

Whether you run your own internet business selling products that you create or are an affiliate marketer, chances are you write content on the web and participate in social bookmarking activities to promote that business. These are time consuming activities and yet are each a necessary and effective means for earning a good income online. We write content for our own websites, webpages, blogs, and write articles for syndication. We do all of this in the hopes of driving traffic to our sites, grabbing the attention of search engines through backlinks, and so forth. But of course, we all know that although these activities can be necessary and time consuming, they don't generate additional revenue directly. Or do they? Increasingly, internet marketers have a multitude of choices when it comes to publishing their content. In fact, some of these choices can indeed directly produce some additional revenue without increasing the amount of time or effort spent in writing. Unfortunately for some hard working internet marketers, this additional income is overlooked or under utilized. This additional income often comes in one of two forms; referral bonuses for new recruits or adsense revenue sharing. The income generated from a single referral or for just a few clicks on AdSense ads on your pages is clearly quite small and is an explanation for why such opportunities often get ignored. However, over time, these small amounts of additional income add up and as many successful marketers have learned, online financial success is often an accumulation of many small streams of income versus a single source. Traditional article directories will accept your written content, get it published, and syndicated for the world to see. Other sites however offer referral bonuses which can produce a small but reliable source of income. When you get a new contributing member signed up you get the bonus; $5 or whatever designated amount is offered. It provides the convenience of an instant payment without the requirement that the new member be prolific or particularly successful. On the other hand, it's a one time occurrence and you don't share in the success of that new writer over time. Perhaps a greater opportunity exists with sites which share AdSense revenue generated when viewers click the ads on the page of content you create. This former method of income generation allows you to continue to collect revenue for your work long after it's been published. Obviously we are talking pennies but if you write hundreds of articles each year it can add up. Luckily some sites offer both things, referral bonuses as well as AdSense revenue sharing. In addition, there are a number of sites which not only offer revenue sharing but will give you a share of the AdSense revenue generated by other writers that you recruit. Again, a small ongoing stream of additional income is created in this manner. There are many online marketers who make a significant amount of their income recruiting other members versus doing a great deal of writing themselves for a particular site. Setting up this passive income is dependent upon your ability to successfully recruit other writers. Choosing the sites where you create or submit content can be important if you want to capture additional revenue from the marketing activities you already do. Simply put, if you'll be doing these activities anyway, why not get the full benefit?
